Christmas Presents – so much choice yet not sure where to start - then, this page can be of assistance

  The giving of Christmas Presents was a lot easier a century or so ago. Well at least I think so.  You gave what you made. Not much choice. In fact one of the earliest known customs of giving presents around mid winter was during the time of the Roman festival of the Kalends. High ranking officials in the Roman Empire where expected to give presents to the Emperor. The original presents accepted by him were olive branches. Unfortunately, the emperor soon got tired of this present and it got known that gifts of honey, cakes and gold made it him much happier. Are we not the same?  Tired of the socks and beach towel Christmas Gifts?   

And are the people for whom you buying Christmas Presents making it gently known that last years present did not cut the mustard?  Pair of running socks and a year’s subscription to the Runners World magazine just will not do it again this year as Christmas Presents for your wife! 

So where do you start.  The problem has reversed over the last 50 years from not many Christmas Presents to choose from to far too many to choose from.  Plus, your loved ones that will be opening your Christmas presents are becoming more and more like the Roman Emperor wanting presents of quality and thought.  No pressure.
